Overview
Certain members of the crow family, as well as some gulls and pigeons are recognised as causing persistent problems. NRS Pest Control can help with the control of any of these birds.
There are three completely separate problems associated with pigeons; the first type of problem is daytime perching where pigeons are using a building as a vantage point to exploit a food source.
The second problem is overnight roosting/breeding where the birds are using a building for the purposes of roosting and/or breeding. It is unusual for a property owner to experience both daytime perching and overnight roosting problems on the same building. There are inevitably problems associated with pigeons perching on roof tiles. The main problem is that gutters, hoppers and downpipes can become blocked with guano and nesting materials.
NRS Pest Control can fit Pigeon Spikes, Plastic Ridge Spikes, Chimney Pot Spikes and Starling and Sparrow Spikes to deter the pigeons from roosting.
The third problem associated with pigeons is crop damage and it is accepted that in certain situations there is no satisfactory alternative but to take action, such as shooting or cage-trapping.

Agricultural losses caused by waterfowl - such as ducks, geese and swans - occur primarily in late winter and spring on wintering and migration areas. Generally, crop damage is light, so can be tolerated, although losses can be significant for some farmers.
In the spring, waterfowl can graze and trample crops. In autumn, cereal crops can be eaten and fouled by ducks and geese. Winter wheat can be pulled and trampled, particularly during wet periods.
The following waterfowl are an example of the species that can be controlled. Pink –footed, Canada, White Fronted and Greylag geese. Moorhen and Mallard.
